We believe that economic development begins with strong planning and a compelling long-range vision for the community to guide and inspire active participation by residents, developers, entrepreneurs and leaders of our not-for-profit and public institutions.
With private funds, the North Adams Partnership retained the services of HR&A Advisors, Inc. and SHoP Architects – both nationally recognized leaders in economic development and master planning – to develop a strategic economic development plan for North Adams in 2013. In November of 2016, the Partnership brought HR&A Advisors and SHoP Architects back to North Adams to give us a Progress Report.
Preparation and development of the plan and progress report included input from a wide range of stakeholders including Mayor Alcombright and other city leaders, our educational and cultural institutions’ leaders, and a broad range of community residents and business owners.
The plan and update are consistent with, and intended to complement, the city’s Vision 2030 Master Plan while emphasizing the economic development opportunities that require the leadership of the North Adams Partnership and its private sector partners.
